Gentlemen Prefer Blondes is a comedic novel written by Anita Loos. It was first published in 1925 and quickly became a bestseller. The novel is written in the form of a diary and is presented as the journal of Lorelei Lee, a glamorous and somewhat naive blonde woman from Little Rock, Arkansas. Published the same year as F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby and Carl Van Vechten's Firecrackers, the work is one of several famous 1925 American novels which focus upon the insouciant hedonism of the Jazz Age.
