On November 10, 1793, the Revolutionary French Convention proclaimed a new cult to replace Catholicism, the cult of Reason. They installed the image of their new deity, the goddess of Reason in Notre Dame, which also became a symbol of revolution. This story inspired the American writer and daughter of an American Civil War soldier, Mary Johnston, for the creation of the presented here drama.
