"The Huguenots in France" by Samuel Smiles
The Huguenots were a religious group of French Protestants who held to the Reformed, or Calvinist, a tradition of Protestantism. This book begins with the revocation of the Edict of Nantes and continues until the time of the French Revolution. While many of the Huguenots fled the country, others suffered incredible persecution at the hands of the crown and the church. In spite of this, French Protestantism refused to die, a conviction that's noted in this text.
