The protagonists of these tales are herdsmen, sheep shearers, miners hardened by a life at the limits of the animalistic: a varied and desperate humanity that nevertheless knows how to develop and preserve the profound sense of human solidarity, which is revealed at every moment. But the real protagonist is the inhospitable bush, an immense and boundless space that, between prairie and bush, constitutes a large part of the Australian territory. This environment, however, also generates behaviour bordering on the absurd and insane, to the point of comic figures.
